Hope to resolve soon: SII CEO Adar Poonawalla on Covishield-vaccinated Indians facing EU travel issues
Pune/IBNS: Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla on Monday said he hopes to resolve the issues which Covishield-vaccinated Indians, who are planning to travel to Europe, are facing.
In a tweet, Poonawalla said, "I realise that a lot of Indians who have taken COVISHIELD are facing issues with travel to the E.U., I assure everyone, I have taken this up at the highest levels and hope to resolve this matter soon, both with regulators and at a diplomatic level with countries."

The SII manufactures the Oxford University's anti-COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca in India, named Covishield.
The European Union (EU) is planning to roll out from Jul 1 a new plan under which a "digital COVID certificate" will be introduced for travelling.
The certificate will be proof that the holder is vaccinated against the virus.
The EU's medical regulatory body has listed four anti-COVID-19 vaccines including AstraZeneca. However, Covishield does not feature in the list.
At present, only two vaccines, Covishield and indigenous Covaxin, have been rolled out in India.
