Guwahati: Security forces busted a war-like stores in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
According to the reports, based on intelligence input about a weapon hideout, a combined team of 38 Assam Rifles and Kangpokpi district police launched a search operation from July 6 evening in the jungle area located about 5 km away from Eastern side of Haijang village and recovered a large numbers of arms and ammunition during two-day long operation.
Security personnel recovered one AK-47 rifle with two magazines, one MA-1 assault rifle with a magazine, three M-16 rifle magazines, one lathode rifle, four country made pistols with four magazines, four radio sets with charger, one UBGL grenade, one morter projectile, 70 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, three rounds of 0.22 mm ammunition, 16 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, one pistol holster and other warlike stores from the jungle area.
A top official of Kangpokpi district said suspected militants had kept the recovered arms-ammunition in the jungle area hidden.
A regular FIR number 23(7)2021 KPI-PS U/S 400 IPC and 25(1-C) Arms Act has been registered.
