False and malicious: Honey Singh on wife's domestic violence allegations

Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh Saturday refuted all allegations of domestic violence brought against him by his wife Shalini Talwar, calling them "false and malicious".

In a long statement on Instagram, Honey Singh said, "I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs. Shalini Talwar. The allegations are severely odious."

Another excerpt of the statement reads, "I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health, & negative media coverage in general.

"However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family – my old parents and younger sister – who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature."

Refuting all allegations, he added, I "will not comment any further because the matter is sub-judice before the Court of Law. I have full faith in the judicial system of this country, and I am confident that the truth will be out soon."

Honey Singh has been served a notice by the court and asked to respond to the same by Aug 28.

According to reports, Talwar in her application, has alleged that she has been subjected to physical, verbal and mental abuse at the hands of her husband.

She also alleged that she was not made privy to all the cash payments that the musician received for his shows and other professional commitments.

Talwar stated that during the time when Honey Singh earned around Rs. 4 crore a month, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol. He also became arrogant, abusive and started having multiple affairs.
