Kohima: Nagaland Baptist Churches Council’s Clean Election Movement was launched at Tuensang, organized by Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen on Friday at CBLT Conference Hall, Tuensang with the theme “MY VOTE: MY FUTURE”.

The launching programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner & DEO, Kumar Ramnikant; President CKS, Nungsanglemba; DAEO Tuensang, Renben Mozhui; ES CBLT, Rev. Achu Chang;  President TTBPU, representatives of GBs & pastors and students of Baptist Thangyen Higher Secondary School, Tuensang.

Speaking on the occasion Kumar Ramnikant stated that a clean electoral roll is the base of the clean election processes.

If we manipulate our vote then we are manipulating our rights and selling our identity and the whole process starts there on, he said.

He said that being a democratic set up, leaders are chosen by the people and that there should be no proxy or bogus voters, and e-roll must be clean.

Ramnikant sought for the support of everyone to achieve a clean electoral roll. He urged that the public should stop the habit of complaining about the leaders for not bringing changes and development, rather they should at themselves for electing those leaders. He encouraged all to keep the message of clean election flowing so that it will reach a wide mass.

President CKS Nungsang Lemba said that the citizens of the State have a habit of making false electoral rolls. He encouraged the people to help the authorities in cleaning the e-roll so that good leaders can be elected.

District Assistant Election Officer, Tuensang, Renben Mozui encouraged the individuals to identify enrolling genuine voters, strike out absentee voters, to delete the demographically same entries and to delete the inter district and inter constituency multiple entries of the voters. He also requested the PwDs to be identified and get them enrolled. Clean Election Campaign is a thought process and implementation part is a collective responsibility to achieve, he said.

ES CBLT, Rev Achu in his key note address said that the struggles faced today are one’s own doing and urged the gathering to be instruments of change.
