Kolkata: Metromen foil two suicide attempts
One male person aged about 42 years attempted to commit suicide by jumping in front of a Metro train at down line of Shahid Kshudiram Metro Railway station on Froday morning.
The driving motorman Jayanta Kundu noticed it and immediately applied brake and stopped the train.
The person was rescued from the track with injury on leg. He was given first aid treatment by the Metro Railway’s Doctor and later, he was handed over to his family in presence of the local Police. However, normal Metro services were resumed at 8.46 AM.
Another suicide attempt was thwarted by a RPF personnel.
One male person aged about 25 years jumped to the down line of Maidan station around 9.25 AM to commit suicide. Noticing this, Md. Malekul Islam, Constable of RPF came down in the tunnel and drew attention of the motorman of the approaching train to stop it taking risk of his life to save the commuter.
The man was rescued from the track with forehead injury. He was given first aid treatment immediately by the Metro Railway’s doctor and later on, he was sent to SSKM Hospital for further treatment.
Metro services resumed normalcy at 9.36 AM.
