Bengaluru/UNI: Commenting on the latest developments in Afghanistan, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda Tuesday urged India to respond in a humane manner, besides developing an independent policy of fostering friendship and peace in its neighbourhood.

"Reports from #Afghanistan show how fear and uncertainty have gripped the country. It is a difficult moment for India and the entire region. We have to respond in a humane manner besides developing an independent policy of fostering friendship and peace in our neighbourhood," he said in a tweet.

Gowda made this remark following clouds of uncertainty looming over the transfer of power after the Taliban captured the South Asian country.

While the Taliban solidifies its position in Kabul, Indian defence experts predict an increase in terrorism at the LoC, as the Pakistan Army might aid the Taliban's to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir to carry out terrorist activities.

Meanwhile, the Indian authorities are making efforts to bring back their nationals residing in Afghanistan.

120 Indian nationals onboarded the Indian Air Force plane landed at Jamnagar in Gujarat from Kabul at 11.15 am, the defence officials said.

Whereas, the Afghan students staying in India are deeply worried over their future in India as they watch the collapse of Kabul under the fury of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan
