New Delhi/IBNS: Congress President Sonia Gandhi is all set to meet opposition leaders including Mamata Banerjee and Uddhav Thackeray virtually on Friday.

The meeting, aimed at consolidating the unity that the opposition displayed in taking on the Union government in Parliament, will be held at 4:30 PM.

Besides the Chief Ministers of Bengal and Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren have also been invited to the meeting.

Sonia Gandhi's effort is seen to be a key initiative for oppositions' moves ahead of the state elections next year and the 2024 national election, where the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will seek a third term in power.

The Opposition had put up a united front against the government over Pegasus snooping controversy, farm laws, price rise, and other issues.

Both Houses witnessed repeated adjournments and several bills were passed in din.

Opposition leaders held several strategy meets through the session, and held demonstrations as well.

The monsoon session of Parliament, which started on July 19, was adjourned sine die two days before the scheduled end to the monsoon session.
