Domestic violence case: Delhi court orders singer Honey Singh to appear before it on September 3
New Delhi/UNI: A Delhi court on Saturday ordered singer Honey Singh to appear before it on September 3 in connection with a domestic violence case filed by his wife Shalini.
Shalini Talwar has sought Rs 20 crore as compensation from him under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
Counsel for Singh moved an exemption application for appearance of Singh before the court, citing medical reasons and apprised the court that Shalini has already taken all the valuables with her including jewellery.
Singh's counsel further submitted that his client has two properties costing around Rs 4 crores, of which a property worth Rs 1 crore belongs to Shalini Talwar.
Metropolitan Magistrate Tania Singh, expressing displeasure over Singh's absence, told his counsel, 'You have not filed his income affidavit and are not prepared with the arguments.'
The Magistrate said, 'No one is above the law and ordered Honey Singh to appear before it on the next date of hearing, on September 3.'
Honey Singh and Shalini had tied the nuptial knot on January 23, 2011.
Shalini submitted before the court that she was physically assaulted by Singh over the last 10 years.
She also alleged that Singh cheated on her. Shalini alleged that she was subjected to numerous incidents of physical, verbal, mental and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband and his family members.
