Guwahati: Northeast Frontier Railway resumed the passenger train services between Silchar and Bhairabi in Mizoram.

With the resumption of this train service, hurdles of train communication for the people of Mizoram with nearby regions have been erased.

Services of Train No. 05567/05568 Silchar – Bhairabi – Silchar passenger special have been resumed as bi-weekly service.

The train departs from Silchar on every Tuesday and Friday at 16-55 hours to reach Bhairabi at 21-00 hours and from Bhairabi on every Wednesday and Saturday at 05-30 hours to reach Silchar at 09-20 hours.

Train timings have been decided based on passenger convenience and such that people of Mizoram can get further connection to long distance trains from Silchar.

The resumption of passenger train services between Silchar and Bhairabi will benefit the local population and economy of the region. Small traders of the state will be able to bring items of daily consumption as well as other goods at a much cheaper, cost effective and eco-friendly manner by utilising services of two SLRs of the train.

It may be mentioned that N. F. Railway is executing the Bhairabi – Sairang new railway line project in Mizoram. Better rail connectivity will lead to economic development not only of the people the Mizoram but also for entire NE region.
