AAP promises 300 units free power for every household, waive old dues in poll-bound UP

Lucknow/UNI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday promised to provide free 300 units electricity to every household in Uttar Pradesh, if voted to power in the Assembly election early next year.

The party also said that all the pending dues of consumers will be waived off and the cases against consumers will be withdrawn.

Farmers will also get electricity free, said the party.

Delhi Deputy Chief minister Manish Sisodia made the announcements here in presence of AAP UP in-charge, Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, just a day after the party had released names of probable candidates in 100 constituencies.

Sisodia said that if an AAP government is formed in the state, within 24 hours, consumers will get free electricity up to 300 units per month.

"All the old outstanding bills will be waived off," he said, while asking the people to throw away their outstanding bills as soon as the AAP government is formed and bills would start afresh from zero.

He said 24-hour electricity will be provided in the state as UP generates more power than Delhi.

"Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal believes that electricity is not a luxury but a fundamental right in 21st century India. Providing electricity is the basic responsibility of the government," he said.

The AAP is the first political party to announce probable 100 candidates for the assembly polls.
