Fully vaccinated people with Covid negative report must for Chardham Yatra: Uttarakhand court
Dehradun/IBNS: Fully vaccinated people and a negative Coronavirus report is must in order to make a Chardham yatra, the Nainital High Court said on Thursday.
The ban on the annual pilgrimage in Uttarakhand has been lifted with this announcement.
The court has ordered devotees to follow strict Covid protocols and has also put a cap on the number of visitors allowed.
Only 800 devotees will be allowed at Kedarnath Dham, 1,200 at Badrinath Dham, 600 at Gangotri and 400 devotees at Yamunotri Dham in a day, the court said.
The ruling came after the Uttarakhand government filed an affidavit on Sept 8 seeking to resume the annual pilgrimage.
On June 28, the High Court put a stay on the yatra until further orders amid the COVID crisis and lack of health services in the Chardham districts.
The Chardham Yatra, which includes a visit to the Kedarnath temple, witnesses lakhs of tourists and devotees every year from across the country and abroad.
