Two militants of newly floated group ULB killed in encounter with security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar
Guwahati: Two militants of newly floated armed group United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam’s Kokrajhar district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The encounter took place at Ultapani reserve forest area in Kokrajhar district.
According to the Kokrajhar district police, security personnel busted a camp of the militant group and recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition, grenades and other war like stores from the area.
A top official of Assam police said that, based on secret information, a team of police and security forces had jointly launched operation in the area in the wee hours of Saturday.
During the encounter two militants killed on spot and other militants who were taken shelter in the temporary camp had managed to flee from the area.
Security personnel had recovered two pistols (9mm and 7.65mm), eight rounds of live ammunition, 14 rounds of empty cartridges, 8 hand grenades and other warlike stores from the encounter spot.
The slain militants were identified as Jwngsar Mushahary and Janak Kumar Brahma.
Assam Special DGP GP Singh tweeted – “In a late night/early morning operation, @KokrajharP has busted a camp of newly formed terror group ULB at Ultapani area. Two cadres have been declared dead after exchange of fire between Police/Security forces and terrorists. Two pistols and grenades recovered.”
