2.30 lakh Yaba tablets worth Rs 8 cr seized along Assam-Mizoram border, four arrested
Guwahati/IBNS: Assam Police recovered 2.30 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets worth Rs 8 crore in the state's Karimganj district on Saturday.
Police also arrested four drug peddlers along with the contraband drugs.
According to the reports, Karimganj district police had launched an operation at Bhetairband area under Ratabari police station along Assam-Mizoram border based on intelligence input and seized 2.30 lakh pieces of Yaba tablets from a vehicle.
A top official of Karimganj district police said that, the market value of the seized drugs is estimated at around Rs 7-8 crore.
The vehicle was coming from inter-state border towards Karimganj town.
The arrested peddlers were identified as Naziruddin, Sahabuddin, Sultan Hussain and Juben Hussain.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated the Karimganj district police for recovering the huge quantity of drugs.
