Guwahati/IBNS: Two brothers were killed on Wednesday after a bomb believed to be of World War-II era exploded in Manipur’s border town area Moreh.
The incident took place at Gangte Veng, Moreh Ward No. 9 in the bordering town area along the Indo-Myanmar border when two brothers were digging a pit to dump garbage in the backyard of their house.
The deceased persons were identified as Lalsangmuon Gangte and Lienkhogin Gangte.
A police official of Tengnoupal district said that the deceased persons were digging a pit to dump garbage in the backyard of their house and accidently hit a bomb believed to be of World War-II era with their spades.
Earlier in November 2020, 122 shells of unexploded World War-II era bombs were unearthed in the Moreh area.
