New Delhi/IBNS: In a major global outage, social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have gone down.
The three apps, which are all owned by Facebook, and run on shared infrastructure, all completely stopped working after 9 PM.
Other products of the same family of apps, such as Facebook Workplace, also stopped working.
As of now, there is no confirmation when those sites, including Messenger and WhatsApp, will be restored.
"Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can," a message on the Facebook website said.
WhatsApp acknowledged the outage on Twitter:
We’re aware that some people are experiencing issues with WhatsApp at the moment. We’re working to get things back to normal and will send an update here as soon as possible.
