Owner of Bindroo Medicates killed by unidentified gunmen in Srinagar
Srinagar/UNI: Kashmiri Pandit Makhan Lal Bindroo, the owner of the famous Bindroo Medicates in Srinagar, was shot dead here by unidentified terrorists on Tuesday, a police official said.
He said the gunmen fired at Bindroo inside his pharmacy near Iqbal Park in Srinagar.
Bindroo was critically injured in the attack and was rushed to SHMS hospital where he succumbed.
Police said the gunmen managed to escape during the chaos created due to the firing.
“Security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” police said.
Condemning the incident, former chief minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah said that Bindroo never left Kashmir even during the height of militancy and kept his shop open.
“What terrible news! He was a very kind man. I’ve been told he never left during the height of militancy and remained with his shop open. I condemn this killing in the strongest possible terms & convey my heartfelt condolences to his family. God bless his soul,” Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.
