Yogendra Yadav suspended by SKM for meeting family of BJP worker killed in Lakhimpur
New Delhi/UNI: Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has suspended Swaraj India leader Yogendra Yadav for a month for visiting the family of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker Shubham Mishra, who died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
Sources said that this decision was taken after demands by several farmer groups.
Shubham Mishra was a part of the convoy of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra, and was allegedly lynched by farmers after the convoy ran over the protesting peasants, killing five people.
Shubham Mishra was among four from the convoy who died in the incident.
During his suspension, Yadav would not be allowed to speak from the stage of SKM, though he can participate at protest sites.
He would also not be a part of the meetings.
On Oct 12, Yadav had met the family of Shubham Mishra in Lakhimpur Kheri.
In a tweet, he said, “While returning from the shaheed kisan shradhanjali, I visited BJP worker Shubham Mishra’s house. The family was not angry at us. They only asked, are we not farmers? What was the fault of our son? Why did your colleague say action-reaction? His questions are ringing in my ears.”

Farmers have alleged that Ashish Mishra, the son of the MoS was involved in the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri, where cars from Mishra's convoy crushed farmers as they were walking back from a protest.
Four people from the convoy also died, after allegedly being lynched by the crowd.
