Pranab Mukherjee condoles Saudi Arabia King's death

New Delhi, Jan 23 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee condoled the death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah on Friday.

"Heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Saudi Arabia over the sad demise of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia," Mukherjee tweeted.

"In King Abdullah ' s passing, Saudi Arabia had lost a beloved leader, India a close friend and world, an elder statesman," he said.

Mukherjee said: "King Abdullah had genuine warmth &affection for India &our people, was personally committed to improving bilateral ties."

Abdullah has died on Friday, reports said.

He was 90.

His brother Prince Salman has been named the new Saudi king, reports said.
