Five killed, three injured after head-on-collision between a car and truck in Assam’s Darrang

Guwahati/IBNS: At least five people including a 13-year-old minor girl were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Assam’s Darrang district on Sunday.

The incident took place on National Highway 15 at Besimari area under Dalgaon police station in Darrang district where there was a head on collision between a Maruti Swift Dzire car and a truck.

According to the police, five people died on spot and three others injured in the accident.

A police official of Darrang district said that, the car bearing registration number AS-07G-6794 was coming from Tezpur side towards Mangaldoi and the truck bearing registration number AS-23CC-1002 was coming from opposite direction.

“Five people who were travelling in the car died on spot while three other passengers of the car were also seriously injured in the incident. The injured persons were rushed to Mangaldai civil hospital and later they were referred to Guwahati,” the police official said.

The deceased persons were identified as Faridul Islam, Azad Ali, Ibrahim Ali, Manjuwara Begum and Sania Akhtar and they were resident of Darrang district.

According to the locals, a group had visited the Rowta area in Darrang district for a video shoot for a YouTube channel of deceased Sania Akhtar.
