BJP and ally UPPL win all five seats in Assam bypolls

Guwahati/IBNS: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally United People’s Party, Liberal (UPPL) won all five assembly seats in the bypolls in Assam. While the BJP won three assembly seats, UPPL won two.

Sushanta Borgohain, a candidate of BJP won in 107-Thowra LAC  by a margin of 30,561 votes over Dhaijya Konwar, an iIndependent candidate who received 24,395 votes in.

Jiron Basumatary, a candidate of UPPL won in 28- Gossaigaon LAC with 58769 votes over Jowel Tudu, candidate of Indian National Congress who received 30517 votes.

Phanidhar Talukdar, a candidate of BJP won in 41- Bhabanipur LAC with 64200 votes over Sailendra Nath Das, candidate of Indian National Congress who received 38559 votes.

BJP candidate Rupjyoti Kurmi won in 101- Mariani LAC with 55489 votes. Jolen Daimary, a candidate of UPPL wOn in 58- Tamulpur LAC with 86678 votes.

7,636 votes were casted in NOTA in the Bye-Election to Assam Legislative Assembly, 2021. Out of these 1,369 is casted in 28-Gossaigaon, 1,120 in 41-Bhabanipur, 2906 in 58-Tamulpur, 1,515 in 101-Mariani and 726 in 107-Thowra.
