Prez Kovind, PM Modi, Vice President extend Diwali greetings

New Delhi/UNI: President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Ministers and other leaders on Thursday greeted the people on the occasion of Diwali.

Extending his greetings and warm wishes to the countrymen, the President in a tweet in Hindi said, "Diwali is the festival of victory of good over evil. This is the festival of light over darkness. Let us celebrate this festival in a clean and safe way and pledge to contribute to protect the environment."

"Greetings to the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. I wish that this festival of lights brings happiness, prosperity, and good fortune in everyone's life," the PM said in a tweet in Hindi.

In a message in Twitter, the VP said, "My greetings on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. Signifying the victory of good over evil, the festival reaffirms our belief in the noble ideals of Shri Rama’s life.

"May this festival that brings light, harmony and prosperity into our lives usher in a new enthusiasm to make our lives more fulfilling and bring happiness to everyone."

Extending his warm wishes, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a social media post wrote, "Greetings to you and your entire family on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a tweet wrote, "Wishing everyone a very 'Happy Diwali'. May this festival of light and happiness illuminate everyone's life with new energy, light, health, and prosperity."

BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda also took to Twitter to extend his greetings and said, "I wish this holy festival brings happiness, peace and prosperity in everyone's life."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "The light of the lamp illuminates everyone's life without any discrimination- this is the message of Diwali. #HappyDiwali."
