New Delhi, Jan 25 (IBNS) Wing Commander Pooja Thakur led the Guard of Honour for President Barack Obama at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Sunday said it was a 'one of the memorable moments' of her life.

Speaking on seeing US President Barack Obama from such close range, Thakur told NDTV: " It was like one of the memorable moments and you have to be consciously aware that you are not gonna suddenly start thinking "Oh, how is he looking" or you just keep looking at him and things like that, because you need to concentrate on whats your next move."

Thakur said it was exciting when she  first came to know she will  led the Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

"I was excited that time. And then as we got closer to the day, I started getting a little nervous. You have to make sure you have to put up a great performance and set up great standards, to be able to give the right command, to be able to lead the men behind you, and to present the right kind of high-standard Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary," she said.

Thakur is the first lady officer to lead the Inter-Service Guard of Honour

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel tweeted: "As a woman, I feel extremely proud to learn about a Lady Commanding Officer leading the ceremonial Guard of Honour to President Obama."

US President Barack Obama arrived Sunday with his wife Michelle on a three-day visit to India.

Obama is the first American President who will be present at the Republic Day parade.
