Metro Railway observes 66th Republic Day

Kolkata, Jan 26 (IBNS): Metro Railway in Kolkata observed the 66th Republic Day on Monday.
Mahendra Singh, Chief Electrical Engineer, Metro Railway, Kolkata unfurled the National Flag and addressed the gatherings at Metro Rail Bhavan on behalf of Radhey Shyam, General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata.
 
Addressing on the occasion, Mahendra Singh highlighted various achievements of Metro Railway, Kolkata in different fields and also measures taken by Metro Railway for the benefit of the commuters.  He informed that Metro Railway, Kolkata improved the Operating Ratio.
 
During this financial year’s first nine months, Metro Railway has shown exemplary performance in respect of earnings and punctuality. An amount of Rs.129.55 Crore has been earned during this period compared to Rs.89.19 Crore in the corresponding period of previous year. During the period of last nine months Metro Railway has carried 13.84 Crore passengers, an official statement said.
 
Metro Railway’s punctuality has been excellent being 99.85 per cent as compared to 99.60 per cent during the corresponding period of the previous year, it said.
 
Singh urged upon the workforce of Metro Railway to continue their efforts towards better services to the commuters in coming days also.
