New Delhi/IBNS: The price of petrol in Delhi will now be cheaper as the city government on Wednesday reduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) from 30 percent to 19.40%.
With the new step taken by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, the price of petrol will be cheaper by Rs. eight.
The new price will be effective from Wednesday midnight.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "We have made petrol much cheaper in Delhi today. The VAT has been reduced from 30 percent to 19.4%.
"Petrol and diesel are now cheaper in the NCR compared to other cities. I hope this will help the people living in Delhi."

The prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged for the 27th day in a row on Wednesday.
The fuel prices had come down sharply on November 4, 2021, after the Centre announced reduction in excise duties on petrol and diesel by Rs five and Rs ten respectively.
Prices of diesel and petrol were rising across the country, breaching all previous records but the Centre's announcement to cut the excise duties gave a big relief to people.
The rise in the fuel prices in the domestic market was mainly attributed to global upsurge in crude oil prices.
