Two Assam Civil Service officers arrested, suspended in village headmen appointment scam

Guwahati/IBNS: The Assam government has suspended two Assam Civil Service (ACS) rank officers who were arrested for their alleged involvement in village headmen (Gaon Burha) appointment scam.

The suspended government officials are Bikram Aditya Bora and Abdul Khair Ilias Noshim Ahmed.

In two separate notifications issued by the Personnel (A) department of Assam government on Wednesday said that – “…….arrested by the officials of the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell, Assam on 4-11-2021 in connection with Vigilance Police Station case no. 05/2021 and was detained under custody beyond 48 hours.”

“The Governor of Assam, therefore, in exercise of powers conferred under Rule 6 (2) of the Assam Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules. 1964 is pleased to order that ………. deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from the date of his arrest i.e. 04.12.2021 until further orders,” said in the notification signed by the Principal Secretary of Personnel (A) department.

Earlier on Dec 4, the Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell had arrested the two ACS officers for their alleged involvement in illegal appointment of village headmen (Gaon Burha) in South Salmara Mankachar district of Assam during 2017-18.
