Delhi wave for me: At par with Modi wave-Bedi says

Delhi wave for me: At par with Modi wave-Bedi says

New Delhi, Jan 28 (IBNS) Kiran Bedi, the BJP's chief ministerial candidate for Delhi, claimed on Wednesday that there was a wave in the capital for her at par with the response Prime Minister Narendra Modi received before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"It's a same wave as it was for Mr Modi. It's the same wave. Women, youngsters, elders, across the board... It's the same wave," she told NDTV.

The 65-year-old former top cop who took plunge into politics by joining the BJP recently, questioned reports of a less than enthusiastic response to her campaign in Delhi, where assembly polls will be held on February 7.

"When there is a roadshow, I see the roads totally jammed, and the next day I hear that it was very thinly attended...because (media) were not there. I was there, I could see it. They had gone back because they could not keep pace," said the former police officer, who is contesting her first ever election," she said.

Launching a frontal attack against Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Bedi  described him as 'highly toxic' and 'highly negative.'

"I tried not to comment on Arvind Kerjriwal personally, but since you have made me comment, he is highly toxic, highly negative," she said.

Bedi's induction into the BJP is being seen as a move to counter the popularity and Charishma of Kejriwal, who became Delhi Chief Minister last year, but stepped down within two months.

Slamming the AAP for calling her a 'BJP mole' Bedi also asked why was she then offered chief ministership by the AAP last year. "If the Aam Admi Party or AAP alleges that I was a BJP Mole why did they offer me chief ministership last year."

"I did tell them not to target the BJP as we needed opposition help for the Lokpal
They were targeting both the Congress and the BJP during the Anna Hazare movement because they'd already decided to form a political party," Bedi said.

Replying a question on Kejriwal's challenge to her to sit for a debate, she said, "Have not accepted Arvind's offer of debate as he is uncivil and uncouth and only wants to throw mud."

"Debate with Arvind permits him to be defamatory; will not allow that; will debate on floor," she said.

Speaking her mind, Bedi said the RSS was the victim of media perception that the organisation was for India.

"The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS suffers from a media perception problem; they are about India first," she said.

Identifying herself with the value system of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, Bedi said, "I am an open book. My energy is for work and it is not to be used for a negative cause."
