Mumbai/UNI: The main opposition party in Maharashtra, BJP, on Wednesday demanded that the post of chief minister should be handed over to someone else till Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's improves.

State BJP president Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday said that Thackeray's absence during the winter session is inappropriate.

While talking to a media person outside Vidhan Bhavan, he said that considering Thackeray's health condition, he should hand over charge to someone else from the Shiv Sena or his family.

"He doesn't trust the Congress or the NCP since they may not hand back the CMs post. Minister and son Aaditya Thackeray can be given the charge," Patil said .

The BJP state chief said, "It is inappropriate that the Chief Minister remains absent from the Legislature proceedings."

The 61-year-old Thackeray is recuperating from a cervical spine surgery for which he was hospitalized for three weeks.

On Tuesday, Thackeray attended the eve tea party and cabinet meeting through video conferencing.

Thackeray has been working from his official residence Varsha and attending cabinet meetings virtually.
