Srinagar/UNI: A moderate intensity earthquake jolted parts of Kashmir on Monday evening, officials said.
The Meteorological Department while quoting National Center for Seismology (NCS) said an earthquake of magnitude 5 with epicenter 35:68 N, 75:31E hit Jammu and Kashmir at 7.01 pm.
NCS is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country. The epicenter was earlier believed to be in Pakistan.
Officials said there were no immediate reports of any damage due to the earthquake.
