Omicron threat: Travel restrictions in Kerala from Dec 30 to Jan 2
Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: The Kerala government has imposed travel restrictions from the night of Dec 30 to Jan 2 in order to control the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
However, pilgrims proceeding to Sabarimala and Sivagiri were exempted from the travel restrictions, an official release said Wednesday.
The restrictions will be imposed from 2200 hours to 0500 hours on these days and New Year celebrations will also be restricted after 11 pm on Dec 31, it said.
In connection with the New Year celebrations, sectoral magistrates will be on duty during the night period in places where a large number of people are expected to gather.
Bars, clubs, hotels, restaurants, will continue to function with a maximum seating capacity of 50 percent, it added.
