COVID-19 Delhi private offices asked to operate in full work from home mode amid COVID-19 surge
New Delhi/IBNS: The new rules aiming to stem the COVID-19 spread have made it mandatory for all private offices, barring the ones belonging to the essential services, to shift to the "work from home" mode, media reports said.
Earlier, the private offices were allowed to function with 50 percent workforce while the rest stayed back home.
Under the new rules made by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority or DDMA, private banks, insurance companies, pharma companies, microfinance companies, lawyer's offices and courier services are exempted.
The restaurants and bars in the national capital were closed a day ago, permitting only the home deliveries.
The city, which houses Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday reported over 1,900 fresh COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths apparently linked to the virus.
In an interaction with English news channel NDTV, Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain said the infections will reach the peak this week.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has already said his local government is having no plans to impose a total lockdown if COVID-19 protocols are followed though the union territory is witnessing a weekend curfew to beat the coronavirus spike.
