PM Modi security lapse: No breach but plot, says HP CM Jai Ram Thakur

Shimla/UNI: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday said that Narendra Modi's rally was not cancelled due to any security lapse at Ferozepur in Punjab but it was sheer conspiracy against the Prime Minister under a planned manner.

While addressing a press conference in Shimla, Jai Ram Thakur targeted his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi saying that the compromise with the security of the PM in Punjab was no coincidence

Thakur said the matter is in the Supreme Court now and it could be a well thought out conspiracy.

Giving clean chit to the SPG, CM Jairam said doubts had been raised about the Prime Minister's route by the central agencies, but the Punjab government did not take any steps.

Commenting on the issue in a special convened Press conference, the Chief minister pointed out that when the protesters blocked the path of the PM, Punjab Police Jawans were enjoying tea along with protesters.

He said the Punjab government was alerted many times by the intelligence agencies, but no effective step was taken by the government.

The Himachal chief minister blamed the Congress-ruled Punjab government that it was also alerted about the Khalistani faction activity in the state and still the PM's security was compromised.

The Chief Minister said the schedule of the Prime Minister's arrival in Punjab on Jan 5 was fixed.

He said the entire program of the Prime Minister's visit was sent to the state government.

"The Punjab government is playing in the hands of pro-khalistani militants," he added.
