Chennai/IBNS: Schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu, closed due to the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases, will reopen from Feb 1, the state government announced on Thursday.

The night curfew, which was in place to stem the infection spread, has been lifted as well from Friday.

The number of guests allowed at weddings has been fixed at 100, while only 50 people can attend funerals, the new rules have stated.

Meanwhile, places of worship have been allowed to remain open on all days.

The present 50 per cent occupancy restrictions for restaurants, salons, cinemas, gyms, yoga centres will continue for now.

However, no government or private events or exhibitions can be hosted until further orders.
