Only double engine govt can ensure UP's development: Modi

Kannauj (UP)/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday termed better coordination between the Centre and state government the main reason being the success of megaprojects like expressways and appealed to the people of Uttar Pradesh to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) again.

Addressing a rally at the Tirwa assembly constituency in Kannauj, Modi said, "Double engine government is the main reason behind the success of expressways, river linking projects and other major works in UP in the last five years."

He said, "It was due to the double engine government that UP fought the Covid pandemic, the biggest crisis in 100 years. If this crisis would have come before 2017 then there would have been a major crisis in UP."

Modi said lakhs of people got free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme because a double engine government is here in UP.

"Decades-old irrigation projects were completed, work was done on 'Har Ghar Jal' scheme because a double engine government is here."

The big poll promises by the opposition parties, but the Yogi government has done monumental works of public welfare.

Modi attacked the Samajwadi Party (SP) and termed it as absolute "Parivaarwadi" (dynastic).

"They are making big announcements due to major projects like the Bundelkhand Expressway and Ken-Betwa link project. UP will reap benefits of central schemes only when there's best coordination and that will be possible under double-engine govt," he said.

He cautioned the people and said, "It is the double engine government which is providing free ration to the poor from the last several months during the pandemic. If the ration mafia run by the keepers of dynastic politics would have existed during this corona period, what would have happened to the poor? Poor, Dalits and backward of UP would have been forced to face starvation. The ration, which we would have sent from Delhi, the mafia would have locked it in his warehouse and later sold it in black."

He took a jibe at the SP and said that those who indulge in dynastic politics have changed the ethos of the democracy.

"In place of the government of the people, by the people and for the people, its government of the family, by the family and for the family for them," he said.

The PM said that the 'Itra' industry of Kannauj has to suffer the loss of dynasty politics in the form of corruption.

"Kannauj is witness to the wrong policies of these dynastic politicians. With their wrongdoings, they defamed the Itra business of Kannauj. They associated Itra with corruption. We are making Itra a global brand," he said.

He slammed the opposition parties for having their foundation in crime, hooliganism, and corruption.

"You have seen they have given tickets to what type of candidates. Most of them are history-sheeters and some are contesting from jail," he said.

Modi said that for growth, employment, investment and a peaceful environment, UP voters must give top priority to rule of law that only BJP under Yogi will ensure.

The opposition wanted to spread casteism-communalism, to divide votes, but UP will unanimously vote against mafias and rioters.

UP will vote unanimously against mafia raj and Gunda raj," he said. He said that the opposition leaders have stopped dreaming.

"After the first phase of UP polls, opposition leaders have stopped dreaming because they have lost their sleep. Everyone knows that BJP is coming back and Yogi is coming back," he said.

Modi claimed that besides, Dalits and backward BJP also kept the welfare of the economically weaker section of the general category.

"What is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas reflects in our policy for youths. BJP gave 10 percent reservation to the poor of the general category. We did so by maintaining the reservation of our Dalit and backward brothers and sisters," he said.

He said, "It is the BJP government which extended reservation for our SC and ST colleagues in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha for 10 years. It is our government which gave constitutional status to the Commission for Backward class."

Modi said that during previous regimes mafia and criminals were the identity of the districts.

"Earlier districts were identified from the mafias and criminals there. In our government districts are identified for their products. For this we started 'one district, one product (ODOP) scheme," he said.

He also accused SP of creating hurdles in the vaccination campaign launched by the government to help the people during the Corona period.

"By terming Made in India vaccines like that of BJP they made an attempt to play with the lives of the poor. Our government is making all-out efforts to ensure that each and every poor in UP gets a jab. But they attempted to create hurdles in it," he said.
