15-year-old boy arrested for rape and murder of 6-year-old minor girl in Assam’s Hailakandi

Hailakandi: A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for allegedly raping and killing a 6-year-old minor girl in Assam’s Hailakandi district.

Police also arrested the father of the accused minor boy for supporting his son and trying to destroy the evidence of the crime.

According to the reports, a 6-year-old minor girl of Sultanicherra area in Kathlicherra assembly constituency of Hailakandi district was missing since February 9 and her dead body was found from a jungle area of Sultanicherra area on Feb 12.

Hailakandi district Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Upadhyay said police had received the information on Feb 9 that a 6-year-old girl was missing and they had taken the matter very seriously and started investigation.

“On February 12, we had found the dead body of the missing girl from jungle area. After recovering the body we had immediately started our investigation scientifically and within 24 hours we have been able to solve the case. A 15-year-old minor boy was the prime accused and he raped and killed the minor girl. Our investigation is on,” Gaurav Upadhyay said.

He further said that, police also arrested the father of the accused minor boy in connection with the case (no – 17/2022) registered at Ramnathpur police station.
