Huge quantity of drugs, ganja seized in Assam's Karbi Anglong

Guwahati/IBNS: Karbi Anglong district police of Assam seized a huge quantity of contraband drugs and ganja in two separate operations and arrested five persons.

In the first operation, acting on secret information, Khatkhati police station team and CRPF had jointly set up a naka checking in front of SBI Khatkhati under Khatkhati police station in Karbi Anglong district and intercepted a bus bearing registration number AS-02AC-8750 which was coming from Moirabari of Assam’s Morigaon district towards Dimapur of Nagaland.

On thorough search of the bus, the security personnel recovered three packets of suspected Tramadol powder weighing 567 grams from the possession of two persons.

Police had arrested the persons identified as Ikramul Haque (33) and Asadul Haque (29).

The NDPS substance was seized under the physical supervision of SDPO Bokajan John Das.

In the second operation, acting on a tip-off, a naka checking was set up by the Barpathar police station team at Khakrajan Tiniali area in Karbi Anglong district and intercepted a gas tanker vehicle bearing registration number MN-04C-0332 which was coming from Manipur.

During the search of the vehicle the police team had recovered 13 packets of ganja weighing 151 kg from inside the cabin of the oil tanker.

Bokajan SDPO John Das said that police had arrested three persons and they were identified as Jaymoni Singha (28), Hakim Basumatary (29) and Amarjit Singh (30).
