Flight carrying 219 Indians from war-torn Ukraine lands in Mumbai
India today evacuated 219 Indian citizens stranded in conflict-wracked Ukraine from neighbouring Romania as the Ukraine's airspace has been close for civil aircraft operations.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said he is personally monitoring the evacuation efforts and the government is making progress.
Post the arrival of the flight, Jaishankar tweeted: "Welcome back."

Earier on Saturday, External Affairs Minister S jaishankar tweeted that he first flight to Mumbai with 219 Indian nationals has taken off from Romania.

Indians, who reached Romania's cappital Bucharest praised the Indian officials for taking care of everything to evacuate them from the war-hit country while others who are still hiding in bunkers complained that no one has reached out to them for help, reported NDTV.
"These are our children who are coming back to their homeland. So we as BMC are doing all the preparation for them. If they want to go anywhere, their testing, vaccination, food, anything, we will be bearing their expenses," Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar said as the evacuation fight landed in the city.
The Indian embassy in Ukraine has advised the Indian citizens not to move o any of the border posts without coordination with its officials.
"The situation at various border checkpoints is sensitive and the Embassy is working continuously with our Embassies in our neighbouring countries for coordinated evacuation of our citizens," the Indian embassy in Ukraine tweeted this morning.

The embassy said it was finding it "increasingly difficult" to help Indian nationals who reach border checkpoints without prior intimation.
