Mamata visits Howrah braveheart family
Amid a shutdown observed by the Opposition in Howrah district, which is contiguous to Kolkata, the Chief Minister met the family of the slain youth.
College student Arup Bhandari, who was beaten up after he protested against harassment of some women on Jan 28, died at a hospital after 5 days in coma, in Kolkata on Monday.
The police have not arrested anyone so far. Howrah Police Commissionerate's officials said that the five accused persons- Anand Prasad, Raju Tiwari, Sanjib Tiwari, Subham Dube and Barun Sharma- have fled from this state.
The WB government has offered a job for Arup Bhandari's brother.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called up Arup's family on Tuesday evening and gave them assurance of a proper investigation.
