Supreme Court urged to cancel Ashish Mishra bail
New Delhi/UNI: Lawyer Prashant Bhushan on Friday urged the Supreme Court to urgently hear a plea to cancel the bail granted to Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, over the killing of farmers at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.
Bhushan, lawyer of the victims of Lakhimpur Kheri, mentioned the issue before a Supreme Court Bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana and two others, saying others involved in the case were also seeking bail based on the bail granted to Mishra.
The Allahabad High Court had given him bail. "We seek urgent listing of our appeal," Bhushan said.
CJI Ramana said the case will be heard on Mar 11.
The family members of the deceased farmers, allegedly mowed down by a car belonging to Ashish Mishra in Lakhimpur Kheri, approached the Supreme Court on February 21 challenging the bail granted by the Allahabad High Court.
The plea was filed through Prashant Bhushan, who said the family members have been forced to approach the top court since Uttar Pradesh had failed to file an appeal against the Allahabad High Court order.
