Mumbai court summons Salman Khan in journalist assault case
Mumbai/UNI: A local Mumbai court on Wednesday issued summons to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his bodyguard directing them to be present in the court on Apr 5 in response to a complaint accusing them of assaulting a journalist.
Ashok Pandey, a TV journalist, had filed a plea alleging that he was assaulted on Apr 24, 2019, when he and his cameraperson saw Khan riding his bicycle and tried to film him.
He said that the 'Dabangg' actor had snatched away his mobile phone when mediapersons had started clicking his photos.
The actor had allegedly entered into an argument and threatened him.
Advocate Fazal Shaikh, appearing for the complainant, had urged the court to direct the local D N Nagar police station to investigate the case.
Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan said in his order passed on Tuesday that by an order passed on Sept 4, 2019, the matter was referred for investigation by the DN Nagar police station.
After a detailed investigation, the police had booked offences under IPC Sec 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and Sec 506 (criminal intimidation) against the accused persons.
The Magistrate said, "Keeping in view the self-speaking material on record, positive police report…and other material on record, there are sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused persons."
