Assam police to get online downloading facility of FSL reports
Guwahati/IBNS: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Assam has got developed the FSL Report Online Downloading facility for the districts and Guwahati City Commissionerate.
With this feature, the experts in the FSL immediately after completing their analysis and preparation of the expert's opinion can upload the report of the case in e-FSL module after selecting the concerned district/ City Commissionerate in the dropdown menu.
Then the report will be visible on the Dash Board of the concerned district/ City Commissionerate.
A Nodal Officer of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) who has been assigned an Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) Id can download the reports.
To ensure confidentiality and data integrity, 3 layered OTP authentication has been enabled.
The system generated OTPs will be received by the concerned police nodal officer on his CUG mobile as well as on his official email ID.
This feature will ensure timely receipt of FSL reports by the districts/City Commissionerate and can help in the early completion of the investigation.
In the present system, once the report is ready for dispatch, FSL writes to the districts concerned to collect the reports, then a Constable from the respective district will have to visit the FSL and bring the report physically.
This has been consuming several weeks of valuable time. Further due to communication gaps the reports were lying at FSL for months delaying the investigations. In some cases, filing of charge sheets got delayed due to nonreceipt of FSL reports and as a result, the accused got statutory bail.
However, with this new system, such problems can be prevented.
This facility of online downloading of FSL reports has been inaugurated by Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta at the DGP’s Conference Hall at Police Headquarters in Guwahati on Tuesday, which will help the Assam Police in a long way in early completion of the investigations.
“We are also happy to announce that Assam is the first state in the country to develop this facility using the ICJS platform,” the DGP said.
