'Can't set own house in order': Mayawati slams Rahul Gandhi over alliance remark

New Delhi/IBNS: Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati on Sunday slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his comment that she had rejected the party's offer for an alliance in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the elections.

Lashing out at Gandhi, Mayawati said, "can't set its own house in order but is taking potshots at BSP".

Stating Gandhi's statement as "absolutely false",  Mayawati insisted that the loss of UP elections should be the focus now than "these petty things".

"The Congress must think 100 times before making such comments. They have been unable to win from the BJP but just keep taking these potshots. Congress has done nothing even in power and even out of power," she added.

On Saturday, Gandhi had said that the Congress had offered an alliance to Mayawati and even offered to make her the Chief Ministerial candidate, but "she did not even talk to us".

Lashing out at the BSP chief, the former Congress president alleged that Mayawati paved a clear way for the ruling BJP to come to power again in the state owing to "the CBI, the ED and Pegasus".

Mayawati also alleged that even Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister and the late father of Rahul Gandhi, tried to defame her party.

"Now even Priyanka Gandhi is doing the same by saying that I am afraid of ED and other probe agencies. All of this are not true. They should know that we have fought and won all these issues in the Supreme Court," she added.

The Congress had gone alone in the recently-concluded assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and lost massively winning only two seats out of 403 and getting a vote share of less than 2.5 per cent.
