'No country will win in Ukraine war, talks only way to resolve dispute': PM Modi in Berlin
Berlin/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said no country can emerge victoriously from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine underlining that India supports peace, and made an appeal to end the war.
PM Modi made this statement as he interacted with the reporters PM Modi told reporters after talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.
"We have insisted on a ceasefire and called for talks as the only way to resolve the dispute since the start of the Ukraine crisis," he said.
"We believe that there won't be any winners in this war and everyone will lose, which is why we are in favour of peace," he said.
Germany too reiterated its strong condemnation of the unlawful and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine by Russian Forces at the 6th India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations.
Both countries expressed their serious concern about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
They unequivocally condemned civilian deaths in Ukraine and reiterated the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
The leaders emphasised that the contemporary global order has been built on the UN Charter, international law and respect for sovereignty and the territorial integrity of states.
They discussed the destabilizing effect of the conflict in Ukraine and its broader regional and global implications.
Both sides agreed to remain closely engaged on the issue.
