Hope India will 'influence Russia' to end Ukraine conflict: Danish PM Mette Frederiksen

Copenhagen:Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Tuesday expressed hope that India would be able to influence Russia to end the Ukraine conflict.

In her media remarks after holding talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Danish PM said that the two leaders had discussed the Ukraine conflict.

“We discussed the war in Ukraine, and the consequences of the horrible war on civilians.” She said the two sides had condemned the killing of civilians in Ukraine's Buch and called for an independent probe into it.

“My message is Putin has got to stop this war and to end the killing. I hope India will influence Russia in this,” she said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his remarks on Ukraine, said that India has called for immediate cessation of the fighting and stressed on diplomacy and dialogue to end the conflict.
