Kashmir target killings: Bank manager gunned down in Kulgam dist

Srinagar: A branch manager from Rajasthan was gunned down by a terrorist in the Kulgam district of Jammu Kashmir in yet another incident of targetted killing of Hindus in the valley within a short period of three days, media reports said.

A terrorist entered the Areh branch of Elaqahi Dehati Bank and shot Vijay Kumar, the bank manager.

The assailant fled the crime scene after firing at Kumar, CCTV footage showed.

Kumar was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to ithe injuries on the way.

He was a resident of Rajasthan's Hanumangarh and recently posted as the branch manager.

His death comes two days after terrorists killed a 36-year-old Kashmiri Pandit school teacher in Golpara area of Kulgam district.

In the last two months, two civilians, incuding a Kashmir Pandit employee Rahul Bhat and two off duty policemen were shot down by the terrorists.

Condemning the Vijay Kumar's murder, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot slammed the NDA government for the growing attacks on Hindus and Kashmiri Pandits.

National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah tweeted to condemn the murder of the bank manager.

BJP's J&K spokesperson Altaf Thakur said the killing was a serious issue and a cause of concern.

Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone termed the killing a heinous act.
