Hapur: At least six workers were charred to death and a dozen others injured after a boiler of a chemical factory exploded in Dhaulana area in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district on Saturday.
According to the Additional Director General of Police, the boiler of the Roohi Chemical Factory exploded at around 3.15 pm in Dhaulana tehsil.
The factory got engulfed in the fire after the explosion and some two dozen workers got trapped inside.
Reports said that by the time the work of extinguishing the fire started, six workers trapped inside were charred to death.
Around a dozen sustained burn injuries.
As the flammable chemicals caught fire, it became difficult to control the flames.
Reports said the injured have been admitted to a community health center where the condition of some is stated to be serious.
Senior district administration and police officials reached the spot and efforts were being made to control the fire. Fire tenders have been called from neighbouring districts.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed them to extend all possible help to the families of the victims.
