New Delhi, Feb 14 (IBNS): After lusty cheers of countless people at the Ramlila Maidan where Aam Admi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal took oath as Delhi’s chief minister on Saturday in a blaze of glory, he took charge of his office at the Delhi secretariat along with other ministers.

President of India Pranab Mukherjee appointed Arvind Kejriwal as Chief Minister of Delhi.

The President revoked the Order (of President's Rule) issued on February 16, 2014 under article 239AB of the Constitution in relation to the National Capital Territory of Delhi, with effect from February 14, 2015.

"The President has appointed Shri Arvind Kejriwal as the Chief Minister of the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi with effect from the date he is sworn in," a communique from the office of President said.

"The President on the advise of the Chief Minister has also appointed Shri Manish Sisodia, Shri Asim Ahmed Khan, Shri Sandeep Kumar, Shri Satyendar Jain, Shri Gopal Rai and Shri Jitender Singh Tomar as Ministers in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, with effect from the date(s) they are sworn in," it added referring to other ministers who took oath.

While Manoj Sisodia is the deputy chief minister, other ministers are held by the rest.

While Satyendar Jain will be looking after power ministry, health, industries, PWD, itender Singh Tomar will be in charge of law and justice, home, tourism, art and culture.

Sandeep Kumar is in charge of the Ministry of Women and Child Social Welfare, Language, SC/ST.

Kejriwal vowed to serve people earnestly for five years and keep the government free of arrogance and root out corruption.

Kejriwal said in keeping with the idea of Anna movement, he will pass the anti-corruption Jan Lokpal Bill and end VIP culture of red lights.

"From today you will take the breath of freedom and I am sure slowly corruption will end," said Kejriwal.

He is the eighth chief minister of Delhi.

The ceremony of his swearing-in was held at the Ramlila grounds, a sprawling public park in the national capital.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung administered the oath of office to Kejriwal, who was reportedly running fever.

AAP, which earlier was in power in Delhi for 49 days with Congress support before Kejriwal resigned in Feb 2014, swept the polls in Delhi this time by winning a record number of 67 of the total 70 seats.
