Home ministry announces Police Medals, J&K leads with 204 gallantry medals
New Delhi: Home Ministry on Sunday annouced 1,082 Police Medals to be awarded to police personnel across the coutry on the occasion of the Independence Day, 2022.
The highest number of gallantry awards have been awarded to Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Home Ministry said in a statement.
Of the 347 gallantry awards, 204 personnel are being awarded for their gallant action in Jammu & Kashmir, 80 personnel for their gallant action in Left Wing Extremism affected areas and 14 personnel for their gallant action in North-East Region.
Among the personnel receiving Gallantry Awards, 109 are from CRPF, 108 are from J&K Police, 19 are from BSF, 42 are from Maharashtra, 15 are from Chhattisgarh and the remaining from the other States/UTs and CAPFs.
Eighty seven President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM), and 648 Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) will also be given.
Apart from the Police medals, President’s Medal for Gallantry and President’s Medal for Distinguished Services as well as Gallantry Medal and Meritorious Services Medals are awarded to the personnel of Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards was also announced ahead of Independence Day.
On the occasion of Independence Day, 2022, 55 personnel have been awarded Fire Service Medals.
Out of these, Fire Service Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 11 personnel for their respective acts of valour and gallantry.
President’s Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded to 6 personnel and Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service is awarded to 38 personnel for their respective distinguished and meritorious records of services.
In addition, 46 personnel are also awarded Home Guard & Civil Defence Medals on the occasion of the Independence Day, 2022. Out of these, Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Gallantry is awarded to 2 personnel for their act of valour and gallantry.
President’s Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Distinguished Service and Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service are awarded to 7 personnel and 37 personnel respectively.
