Jammu and Kashmir: Police constable, militant injured during ongoing encounter in Srinagar

Srinagar: A militant and a security personnel were injured in an ongoing encounter that erupted at Nowhatta in down town Srinagar on Sunday evening, police said.

Militants attacked security forces at Nowhatta and the security forces retaliated, triggering an encounter on Sunday evening in which a police constable and a militant were injured.

“In the ongoing encounter, one police constable identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad, a resident of Ramban, got injured. He has been evacuated to hospital for treatment," police said.

"One terrorist also got injured," the police added.

Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation, the police further said.

"In the ongoing encounter, one police personnel namely Ct Sarfaraz Ahmad R/O Batote Ramban got injured. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment. One terrorist also got injured. Search still going on. Further details shall follow," a police tweet said.
