Panorama India observes India Day 2022 in Toronto

Toronto/IBNS: With the support of the Consulate General of India, Toronto, Panorama India celebrated last week in person the 75th anniversary of India Day 2022 at Nathan Phillips Square transforming it into a festive spot with a lively parade, visuals, ambience, and flavours of India, which attracted a large crowd of Indio-Canadian diaspora.

Although the weather forecast showed thunderstorms and showers, the Indian Diaspora, irrespective of age, from all over Ontario poured into the heart of the city waving and wearing tricolours, which turned out to be a splendid display of Unity in Diversity.

The event kicked off with the opening ceremony, flag hoisting by Apoorva Srivastava, the Consul General of India, Toronto, and singing of the National Anthems of Canada and India by the Panorama India Junior idols.

Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, and Chandra Arya, Member of Parliament, who drove all the way from Ottawa graced the occasion with their presence.

All the dignitaries emphasized the long-standing relationship between Canada and India built on shared traditions of democracy, strong ties of friendship & multiculturalism. They praised the cultural diversity and democratic values of India as well as the contribution of the Indian diaspora to the Canadian economy.

Apoorva Srivastava, Consul General of India, Toronto remarked that Canada and India both believe in restoring the multicultural environment and promoting the culture and heritage that various communities inherit from generations.

Vaidehi Bhagat, Chairperson, of Panorama India welcomed the audience. Deepak Anand MPP, other elected officials, including a large number of prominent Indo-Canadians, and other nationalities.

The Annual Magazine featuring sponsors, supporters, and media partners was also launched at the event by Apoorva Srivastava.

The cultural segment comprised phenomenal performances that showcased the culture & heritage of India.

The parade Marshalls Rahul Dev and Mugdha Godse, Bollywood stars, joined the Panorama India float with full energy and vigour.

The parade had a lot of trucks representing all 28 States of India that depicted the culture and heritage of the largest democracy in the world, with desi music, dance, and cultural artefacts. In addition to the floats, many marching organizations joined the parade with their banners, flags of India and Canada, chanting slogans.

The Festival and Grand Parade were organized by Panorama India with the support of the Consulate General of India, Toronto. Being the 76th anniversary of Indian Independence Day, the organizers ensured a memorable parade for every Indian to cherish. TD Canada Group was the premium sponsor of the event.
