Gurgaon BJP leader shot dead inside cloth showroom
Gurgaon/IBNS: Local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sukhbir Khatana was shot dead by five men inside a cloth showroom in Gurgaon Thursday, reports said.
The Gurgaon Police are checking CCTV camera footage from the spot, which is near Sadar Bazaar.
According to reports, the gunmen were already inside the showroom and as Khatana entered, they started shooting indiscriminately.
There were a number of other shoppers and staff there, who ran or ducked.
"Sukhbir Khatana was badly injured. He died on the way to a private hospital," area police chief Deepak Saharan told the media.
Khatana was a former vice-chairperson of the Sohna Market Committee in Gurgaon and was said to be close to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
He was preparing for Zila Parishad elections from Rithoj village near the city, according to reports.
A murder case has been registered and his body was sent for autopsy.
